The Department of State Services (DSS) has made a significant arrest in Kwara State, apprehending a doctor accused of providing medical supplies to kidnapping gangs operating in the region. The suspect was detained in the Jebba area following intelligence reports that indicated couriers were transporting medical supplies from Sokoto to treat injured bandits hiding in nearby forests.

Security officials have noted that many of these criminal groups have sustained gunshot wounds from recent confrontations with law enforcement. In light of this, they are recommending enhanced security measures at healthcare facilities located in forested areas that may be targeted by kidnappers.

Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kwara State, confirmed the arrest, describing it as a crucial development in the ongoing fight against banditry. He emphasized that this operation demonstrates the commitment of security agencies to dismantle the support networks that facilitate criminal activities. Ajakaye further stated that the state government will continue to collaborate with security forces to eliminate all avenues that enable kidnapping operations.
