Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has formally announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), marking one of the most significant political moves in the state this year.

The governor made the declaration on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House in Port Harcourt. The gathering, which brought together political leaders, traditional rulers, cabinet members, and party loyalists, set the stage for Fubara’s long-anticipated political shift.

In his address, Fubara said his decision was driven by the need to ensure stability, development, and alignment with the political direction of the federal government. He noted that Rivers State must take a strategic position in national politics to attract greater support for its development agenda.

The governor’s move places him among several political heavyweights who have crossed over to the APC in recent months, as the ruling party continues to consolidate its influence across the country ahead of future elections.
