It is disheartening that certain individuals have chosen to misconstrue strong leadership as mere rascality. The recent attacks on Rt. Hon. Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku, Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, represent a calculated effort to undermine a leader who is unequivocally dedicated to advancing the interests of Edo State, alongside our esteemed Governor, Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo (Akpakomiza).
Let us set the record straight: there is no crisis, division, or disunity between the governor and the speaker. What we witness today in Edo is a remarkable synergy between the Executive and Legislature—an alliance built on trust, understanding, and a shared commitment to the welfare of the people of Edo State.
Speaker Agbebaku has consistently demonstrated that he is not merely a figure of rhetoric but a genuine bridge builder—firm when necessary, humble when required, and always loyal to the party and the people. Those who label him a “rascal” are uncomfortable with his courage to speak the truth, defend fairness, and advocate for the interests of Edo citizens.
Under his leadership, the House of Assembly has remained peaceful, stable, and proactive in supporting the Governor’s people-oriented agenda. He has steadfastly refused to be manipulated by selfish interests, and that is precisely what some individuals find intolerable—a speaker who prioritizes Edo above all else.
What we need in Owan West and throughout Edo State is unity, not smear campaigns. The APC is growing stronger due to the mutual respect shared between Akpakomiza and Agbebaku. The era of division and double-speaking is behind us. We are entering a new phase of collaboration and focus.
Those attempting to sow discord between the Speaker and the Governor are, in fact, enemies of progress. The people of Edo are wiser now—they can discern who is genuinely working for the common good and who is merely engaging in empty rhetoric. Rt. Hon. Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku is not in conflict with anyone; he is fighting for good governance, stability, and the welfare of the common man.
Let us not allow desperate politicians to wield propaganda as a weapon against our own. The Edo APC must remain united in support of the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo and Speaker Agbebaku. Together, they are laying the groundwork for a better Edo, where development, peace, and opportunity will reach every community.
Instead of resorting to name-calling, let us celebrate achievements.
Instead of spreading falsehoods, let us champion the truth.
For in the end, history will always vindicate those who stand for what is right.
Rt. Hon. Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku remains a loyal, visionary, and people-focused speaker—a true partner in progress with Akpakomiza for a greater Edo State.
