Edo Police Arrested Man for Killing His 15-Year-Old Son in Igueben

The Edo State Police Command has apprehended a 49-year-old man for the alleged murder of his 15-year-old son, whose body he reportedly buried secretly within their family compound in Uhe Community, Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State. The incident took place on December 5, 2025.

According to the police, the suspect assaulted his son with a stick, which led to the boy’s death. After the crime, he dug a grave in their compound and buried the body. The case came to light after the suspect’s mother, who is also the grandmother of the deceased, provided crucial information to the authorities.

On December 6, police operatives, acting on credible information, visited the scene and confirmed the details of the incident. They exhumed the body for further investigation, documenting the scene and recovering the stick believed to be used in the assault.

The suspect is currently in custody as the investigation continues. The Edo Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, has ordered that the case be transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation and prosecution.

The police have reiterated their commitment to combating violence and crime in the state, urging residents to report any suspicious activities to the authorities. They have also initiated a community safety partnership to enhance collaboration between the police and the public.
