The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended eight individuals affiliated with the Democratic Republic of the Yoruba group for allegedly disrupting public peace, unlawfully assembling, obstructing traffic, and assaulting police officers in Sango-Ota. The arrests occurred following a disturbance on December 25, 2025, at Temidire Junction and the Under-Bridge area, where the group reportedly blocked roads, set bonfires, and engaged in confrontations with law enforcement.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident and the subsequent arrests in a statement to the media. The suspects, aged between 19 and 52, include both males and females, and were found with various items linked to their activities, including a vehicle, broadcast speakers, flags, shirts with agitation messages, and banners.

Following the disturbances, police forces were deployed to restore order, successfully dispersing the group and making the arrests. The suspects are expected to face legal proceedings once investigations are completed.

Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo emphasized the police’s commitment to maintaining peace in Ogun State and warned against any actions that could disturb public order, particularly assaults on law enforcement personnel. He encouraged citizens to remain compliant with the law and report any suspicious activities through designated emergency contact numbers.
