Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between Edo State and Italy, highlighting cultural exchange as a vital avenue for economic growth, mutual understanding, and sustainable development. This call for collaboration was made during a visit from Mr. Iacopo Foti, the Deputy Head of Mission at the Italian Embassy in Abuja, who attended the recent Edo Carnival in Benin City.

The visit also facilitated broader engagement with key stakeholders across Edo State’s three senatorial districts. Mr. Foti met with various officials, including the commissioner of police, the deputy chairman of the All Progressive Congress, the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, and other influential figures in the region.

During his visit, Mr. Foti expressed admiration for Edo State, noting its peaceful atmosphere and the optimism of its people, which contrasts with negative perceptions often portrayed externally. He highlighted the Edo Carnival as a vibrant representation of the state’s cultural heritage and identity.
