Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of youth leader, Osarodion Osagie, as Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Matters, in a move aimed at strengthening the state’s engagement with its global community.

The appointment was announced in a press release issued by the Edo State Government and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor (Esq.), who disclosed that Osagie’s appointment takes effect from January 26, 2026.

According to the statement, Osagie, who was born in Benin City and is widely travelled, is reputed for cultivating global networks to support interventionist schemes in Nigeria, a background the government believes will add value to Edo’s development drive.

Reacting to his appointment, Osagie described the moment as deeply personal, saying, “This appointment means a lot to me personally. It represents trust, confidence, and a call to service.”

He also expressed gratitude to Governor Okpebholo for the opportunity to serve, thanking him for finding him worthy to take on the role of Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Matters.

Osagie further pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by building strong connections between Edo State and its indigenes abroad, with a focus on harnessing their skills, ideas, and resources to drive development, investment, and positive change across the state.
