The Edo State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Uwuilekhue Saturday Idehen (JP), has received a delegation of soldiers from the Demonstration Battalion, Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport (S&T), Benin City, who paid him a courtesy visit to express their support for the state’s Commercial Vehicles Colour Code and Security Code exercise.
Speaking during the visit, the Commissioner commended the Nigerian Army for its show of support and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with relevant security agencies to ensure that the enforcement of the colour code and security code policy is carried out lawfully, professionally, and without harassment.
Hon. Idehen explained that the initiative is a strategic intervention aimed at strengthening security, improving orderliness within the transport sector, and protecting both operators and commuters across Edo State. He noted that effective collaboration with security agencies remains critical to the success of the exercise.
He further assured the delegation that the Ministry values inter-agency cooperation and will continue to engage all relevant stakeholders to ensure the smooth implementation of the policy.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Captain I.E. Mohammed, from the Demonstration Battalion, Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport (S&T), Benin City, stated that the Battalion has agreed to fully comply with the colour code requirements by repainting all its operational and barracks buses in line with the state-approved scheme. He, however, appealed for a reasonable extension of time to enable the Battalion complete the repainting process, assuring the Ministry that all affected buses would be painted accordingly.
