Bamidele Opines That S’West APC Should Deliver 10 Million Votes for Tinubu in 2027

The Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, yesterday, maintained that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had mapped out mobilisation plans to deliver at least 10 million votes for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the South-West alone.

This is just as the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has warned members and stakeholders of the party against over-confidence, urging them to approach the election as underdogs.

Bamidele, who is the Chairman of the Ekiti APC 2026 Governorship Election Campaign Council, noted that the June 20 election would be a referendum to affirm and confirm the leadership of Oyebanji in the state.

The duo spoke during the inauguration of the 57-man governorship election campaign council in Ado-Ekiti, saying the re-election of the governor would be “a walkover for the All Progressives Congress.”

Bamidele challenged the party leaders and members to brace up for the re-election of the incumbent governor, noting that his record of achievements “are unprecedented in the history of Ekiti State.”

He added that the governor “has been consciously paddling the oars of Ekiti State with courage and vision, with confidence and synergy, as well as with patriotism and unalloyed commitment to the well-being of over 3.8 million residents of the state.”

The Senate Leader specifically noted that the task before the APC “is huge. It is not about the re-election of Oyebanji alone. It is also about the general election, which will be held between January 16 and February 6, 2027. It is about the future of our great party both in the state and in the federation.

As a party of conviction and vision, we have already set a target ahead of the 2027 elections. We have designed a mobilisation plan to deliver at least 10 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the six states of the South-West alone.

“As leaders of the APC, the onus now rests upon us to embark on the purpose-driven mobilisation of our members and neighbours to ensure they enrol for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration. With a population of 3.8 million, Ekiti only boasts of 987,647 registered voters based on the records of 2023,” he said.

Oyebanji expressed disappointment at the careless attitudes among party members that are saying that he has won the election, stressing that effective and efficient mobilisation would materialise into victory and not just words of mouth.

He, therefore, tasked them to approach the election with all seriousness by engaging in house-to-house awareness for the party to record at least 500,000 votes.

The governor also expressed profound gratitude to Bamidele for accepting to chair the Council, saying his commitment towards his re-election bid reflects his desire to make sure that the state remains in safe hands.

He urged the Council to work within the tenets of the electoral law and without violence, while also calling on oppositions to remain calm and peaceful for a violence-free election.
