The Nigeria Immigration Service has warned Nigerians against engaging with fake recruitment, information circulating on social media, describing such claims as false and unauthorised.

This was disclosed in a statement shared on the agency’s official Facebook page on Tuesday, where it debunked reports of an ongoing enlistment exercise.

“The Nigeria Immigration Service wishes to inform the general public that any ongoing or purported recruitment or enlistment exercise circulating on social media or other platforms is false and unauthorized,” the statement read.

The agency stressed that it does not conduct recruitment through unofficial channels or third parties.

The Service does not conduct recruitment through unofficial channels or third parties, and no fees are required at any stage of its legitimate processes,” it also said.

It advised members of the public to ignore such claims and rely only on verified communication channels.

NIS said, “Members of the public are advised to disregard such claims, refrain from engaging with or sharing them, and rely only on verified announcements from the Ministry of Interior’s official communication channels.”

The Service also noted that the clarification became necessary following the circulation of information by a Facebook page impersonating the agency, which had amassed over 46,000 followers.

It warned that engaging with such platforms could expose individuals to fraud, urging Nigerians to remain vigilant and verify information before acting on it.
