The Delta State Police Command has recorded a series of major breakthroughs in its ongoing crackdown on crime, including the recovery of a firearm, arrest of suspected drug dealers, seizure of illicit substances, and the rescue of a kidnapped victim.
Police spokesman Bright Edafe said that in one operation carried out on April 2 in Sapele, operatives of the State Anti-Cult Unit arrested a 29-year-old suspect at his residence.
He said a Beretta pistol and three rounds of live ammunition were recovered during a search of the premises.
Edafe also said that on April 1, officers attached to the Ovwian-Aladja Division raided a location along the Igbogidi axis following intelligence reports of suspicious activities.
He said although the suspects fled on sighting police operatives, a sack containing substances suspected to be hard drugs was recovered.
He said efforts are underway to track down the fleeing individuals.
The spokesman said that in a separate development, operatives of the Abraka Division successfully rescued a kidnap victim on April 3 in Abraka.
