Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday led a host of political leaders and dignitaries to Maiduguri for the wedding fatiha of children and a cousin of Babagana Umara Zulum, in what turned into a high-profile social and political gathering.

The ceremony, held in the Borno State capital, drew an array of prominent figures, including the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, governors, federal lawmakers, ministers, and former public office holders.

According to a statement issued by Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima, who served as Waliyi (guardian) for Aisha Babagana Zulum, formally gave the bride in marriage to Mohammed Idi Barde, son of the Deputy Governor of Yobe State.

Other couples joined in the matrimonial rites, including Umar Babagana Zulum, who wedded Fatima Azzaki Jidda; Mamman Babagana Zulum, who married Yagana Mustapha Busuguma; and Abba Abubakar Umara, who tied the knot with Aisha Ibrahim Musa.

Offering prayers for the newlyweds, the Vice President urged the couples to embrace patience, mutual respect, and understanding as they begin their marital journeys, stressing the importance of strong family values in nation-building.

Among dignitaries present were former Vice President Babagana Kingibe; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; and Deputy Senate President, Jibril Barau.

Also in attendance were governors from Kaduna, Gombe, Zamfara, Kebbi, Kano, Nasarawa, Sokoto, and Katsina States, reflecting the wide political significance of the gathering.

Members of the Federal Executive Council present included ministers overseeing Agriculture, Budget and Economic Planning, Housing and Urban Development, Health and Social Welfare, Education, as well as the Minister of State for Regional Development.

The event also attracted notable political figures such as former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, alongside other stakeholders from across the country.
