The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has insisted on going ahead with its planned congresses and convention, despite the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, derecognizing its leadership. In a notice released on Friday by its spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the congress is expected to last from April 7th to 14th, 2026. The congress will commence with the screening of aspirants and then end with a national convention. Nigeria’s crude oil production has reached 1.84 million barrels per day, according to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). Owing to the output increase, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, commended the commission for piloting the petroleum sector to hit a production level of 1.84 mb/d. The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2,280 personnel across the state to ensure a peaceful and secure Easter celebration. The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has dismissed an appeal filed by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), seeking to overturn a Federal High Court judgement that restrained it from imposing fines on radio and television stations across the country. Delivering the lead judgement, Justice Oyebiola Oyewumi, on behalf of a three-member panel, upheld the earlier ruling and set aside the fines imposed by the NBC on 45 broadcast stations on March 1, 2019, for alleged breaches of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code.
