The Independent National Electoral Commission has postponed its planned nationwide voter revalidation exercise until after the 2027 general elections. The decision was announced in a statement issued on Friday by Mohammed Haruna, the commission’s national commissioner and chairman of its information and voter education committee. The Federal Government has ordered the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to immediately withdraw or deactivate Passports of persons who have renounced Nigerian citizenship. The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo gave the directive on behalf of the Federal Government. He said there are people who have renounced their citizenship but still carry the documents.
