The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said it is yet to receive any official communication from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on its leadership status.
INEC had said it would henceforth discontinue the recognition of both the Senator David Mark led ADC and the claims by Nafiu Bala as factional chairman of the party .
INEC in a statement signed by it’s Chairman, Information and Voter Education, Mohammed Kudu said the commission will longer engage with either faction, nor monitor any meetings, congresses, or conventions of the two groups until the matter at the Federal High Court is decided.
The commission further announced that it would remove the names of David Mark from the INEC portal.
A suspended member of the party , Nafiu Bala, who was the vice chairman of the ADC before the David Mark-led caretaker committee assumed control of the party had approached the courts to challenge the emergence of David Mark and his colleagues at the National Working Committee.
Responding to an inquiry as to whether the regulator has communicated it’s decision, the National Publicity Secretary of ADC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi said ,”not officially .”
Recall ,the ADC has raised alarm that the ruling party was pressuring INEC to destabilize the party .
It also alerted of attempts to recognize people who are not members of the party with the view to discredit the party and prevent it from fielding candidates in the 2027 elections .
The ADC has particularly alerted in the last 24 hours that the defection of former Governor of Sokoto State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has jolted the ruling APC and intensified pressure to attack the ADC leadership under David Mark.
