Former Senator representing Jigawa South-East Senatorial District, Sabo Muhammad Nakudu, has defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Nakudu, an APC chieftain, made the announcement while declaring his intention to contest theJigawa State governorship election in 2027 under the ADC platform.
Speaking during his declaration, the former lawmaker expressed confidence in the ADC’s capacity to provide credible leadership and address the challenges confronting Jigawa State.
Our decision is borne out of deep reflection and wide consultations with our supporters. We believe the ADC offers a credible platform to actualise our vision for a better Jigawa State,” he said.
He added that his defection was part of efforts to build a more responsive political structure anchored on grassroots mobilisation and sustainable democratic development.
Nakudu, who represented Birnin Kudu/Buji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2015 and later served in the Senate from 2015 to 2023, previously contested for the APC governorship ticket but lost the primary to Governor Umar Namadi.
