The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s dedication to combating terrorism and addressing the insecurity affecting various regions in Nigeria. His remarks coincided with the global celebration of Easter, as conveyed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh.
Senator Akpabio encouraged Nigerians to foster peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and mutual respect among different faiths and ethnic groups. He urged Christians to reflect on the principles of love and unity during the Easter festivities, emphasizing the importance of these values in building a harmonious nation.
In his Easter message, Akpabio extended warm greetings to Christians both in Nigeria and around the world, highlighting the significance of Jesus Christ’s resurrection and its embodiment of love, peace, and unity. He called for collective efforts to overcome the challenges facing the country, particularly insecurity, and expressed sympathy for families impacted by recent violent attacks, including those in Jos.
The Senate President reassured citizens that the government, alongside the Armed Forces and security agencies, is actively working to address these security challenges. He urged Nigerians to remain united in their understanding and commitment to national security, emphasizing the need for prayers and collective action to overcome adversity.
Additionally, Archbishop Adewale Martins of the Lagos Archdiocese echoed these sentiments, urging political leaders to take decisive action to halt the ongoing violence and killings that have recently plagued various states, including Kwara, Nasarawa, and Plateau.
