The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has encouraged Nigerian youths to maintain their vision for a better Nigeria despite the current hardships facing the country. His remarks were made during a ceremony where he received an Award of Excellence in Public Service from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Babatunde Alao, Tunji-Ojo emphasized that Nigerian youths are the nation’s most valuable asset. He stated, “You are the keepers of the future. Your ideas, courage, conviction, and curiosity will determine the direction of our nation.” He underscored the importance of unity, institutional reform, and a renewed national spirit as pivotal elements in shaping Nigeria’s future.

The Minister noted that the award he received signifies more than personal recognition; it reflects a collective resolve towards progress in Nigeria. He expressed his belief that the country is on a path to becoming stronger and more resilient, attributing this progress to the collective efforts of its citizens.

Tunji-Ojo acknowledged President Bola Tinubu for laying the groundwork for institutional transformation through the Renewed Hope Agenda, describing the President’s vision as a call for efficiency, compassion, and confidence in the nation. He dedicated the award to young Nigerians, civil servants, his family, and President Tinubu, recognizing the President’s commitment to reforms that invigorate national renewal.

Additionally, Tunji-Ojo took the opportunity to highlight key reforms he has implemented since taking office in 2023, particularly the automation of passport processes and the clearance of backlogs, which he noted have improved border management and enhanced professionalism within the Nigeria Immigration Service.

Prof. Adebayo Bamire, Vice Chancellor of OAU, praised Tunji-Ojo for his effective leadership and service across the nation, commending him as a strong representative of the university. The Minister’s remarks and the recognition he received underscore the ongoing efforts to inspire the youth and promote national development in Nigeria.
