The Taraba State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspects, Suleman Abdullahi, 30, and Idris Kauri, 33, in connection with the recent killing of three police officers in the Donga Local Government Area. The arrests were confirmed in a statement by police spokesperson Victor Mshelizah on Saturday in Jalingo.
The police reported that the officers were ambushed by suspected militias at Tse Kwe Tor Damisa, where they were killed and their service rifles stolen. Following the incident, authorities managed to recover the stolen firearms. The arrested suspects are currently in custody and will face charges in court once investigations are completed. The police have indicated that they are actively working to apprehend additional accomplices involved in the attack.
Additionally, the Commissioner of Police for Taraba State, Morkwap Dongshal, conducted an on-the-spot assessment of security challenges in Donga and Takum Local Government Areas, visiting the scene of the incident.
In a separate development, police operatives from the Zing Divisional Police Headquarters intercepted two suspects, Torme Terzugwe, 39, and Job David, 35, during a stop-and-search operation at Yonko. The suspects were found in possession of 304 rounds of live ammunition while riding an unregistered motorcycle, reportedly headed to Ganye Local Government Area in Adamawa State. Investigations into this case are ongoing.
