The Kano State Police Command has dismantled a six-member car theft syndicate, recovering three stolen vehicles in a breakthrough.

The suspects—Aliyu Mamman, Abdulhamid Usman, Saliha Abdulhamid, Auwal Shuaibu, Sani Bala, and Ahmad Mannir—were arrested by the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) on February 13, 2026.

Mamman, 35, a resident of Gusau, Zamfara State, confessed to stealing vehicles across Kano, Kaduna, and Katsina States and implicated his accomplices in the operations. The recovered vehicles included a Golf Wagon, a Golf Opel, and a Hijet (Kurkura).

Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the squad for its professionalism and dedication, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the arrests followed intelligence-led and technology-driven operations directed by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

The Special Intervention Squad, under the guidance of CP Bakori, apprehended Aliyu Mamman at Hotoro Ring Road, Kano, which led to the arrest of the other syndicate members,” Kiyawa said
