President Donald Trump has threatened severe consequences for Iran, saying its civilization could be wiped out if the country continues to reject his order on reopening Strait of Hormuz.
Trump’s call for international support to reopen the water passage had failed.
In a social media post on Tuesday, Trump sent yet another warning saying “a whole civilization will die”, even though the president did provide further details.
Trump gave the Iranian government Tuesday midnight to accept his demand or face the consequences.
He wrote, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World.”
Iran had rejected US pressure, demanding a full end to the war.
It is 38 days since America-Israel launched an unprovoked airstrikes on Iran, killing the country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as other prominent figures and key army officials.
Thousands including civilians have died since the start of the war, while property worth billion dollars has been destroyed.
