Oyo State Police Command on Wednesday arrested seven suspects in connection with murder, cultism and other criminal activities across the state. A statement released by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, in Ibadan, the state capital, said the suspects were arrested in different locations in the state. Two students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, have died after reportedly drowning in a hotel swimming pool during a party for newly matriculated students. The victims, identified as Oludere Opeyemi, 22, and Adegbola Blessing, 19, were at the hotel pool when the incidents occurred, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed in a statement on Tuesday. Jimoh said Blessing was first discovered unconscious at around 8:00 pm on January 29. The Edo State Government has approved a two-week closed camping programme for selected athletes and coaches ahead of the second edition of the Niger Delta Games scheduled to hold in Benin City from February 20 to 27. The Secretary of the Edo State Liaison Committee for the Niger Delta Games, Bright Idahosa, disclosed this on Wednesday as the state commenced trials to select athletes for the regional sports festival. The Kano Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 arrested a Kannywood Star, Samha Inuwa over alleged Naira mutilation. Inuwa was arrested following a viral video circulated on social media platforms where she was seen conspicuously cleaning mucus from her nose using Naira notes. Following the release of the viral video, the Commission swung into action by tracing and subsequently arrested her to answer questions.
